A Kansas Substitute for a Munich Oktoberfest

“Fall is the best season.”

At the beginning of the year, we had a grand trip planned through Europe, with a trip to Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. Not only was I going to whip out some extremely butchered German phrases, but I was ready to try some authentic Weizenbier.

Well, as you can guess, 2020 happened. That means we’re back here in Kansas; but that doesn’t mean we can’t experience great Fall festivals.

We attended two in October: Gary’s Berries in Perry and the Lazy T Ranch Fall Festival in Manhattan. Gary’s Berries was one we had been to in high school, and it had grown quite a bit since the last time were there. Lazy T Ranch was a new experience for us after we heard about it on the radio.

At both, we found our way through corn mazes, met some goats, and I swapped my German beer for a turkey leg. We even got to see people take out zombies with apple-shooting cannons at Garry’s Berries – which was a sight I never thought I’d see!

It may not have been Deutschland, but it was still a fun and enjoyable October! Plus, the apple cider was on point 🙂
